Salty Dimensions

I snuck this photo at the Salt Cave.

Doing breathwork three evenings ago for the first time in two years, since my evolution into a swamp witch out in the forest when I was coming to terms with and processing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, was a sensational discovery! 🧙🏼‍♀️

I was nervous and excited! It would have been my wedding anniversary, and even though I am resigned to the facts that this was a long time ago and I left him, anyway, I cannot help but do some thinking about the trajectories and reconciliation in one's own spirit about moving the needle. Breathwork was available and apropos because, through the rhythm of breathing, time travel is, in a way, possible. I said what I said! 🧚‍♀️

To "get in there" in breathwork, which is, optimally, a hella trance like state, is to become a vessel that moves the needle on both time and dimension. Not only was it my not-anniversary, but it is also a Black Moon! A Black Moon is when a new moon falls on the same calendar month, and it is considered to be a powerful time to set intentions.

When I arrived at Louisville Salt Cave sheathed in a loose fitting and breathable garment, I was warmly greeted and oriented to the charming space. Upon entering the door, I knew I had arrived somewhere special. The glow of salt lamps and soothing aromas were instantly inviting. My stress was suctioned out the door and cleansed in the rain that had the streets glistening, reflecting the city lights.

It worked out that I booked stacked sessions. First, I had 45 minutes in the salt cave. I had never been inside one of these and was excited to enter! Sure enough, I was in a glorious and quite beautiful cave made of salts! There was subtle backlighting with fairy lights, soft and twinkling. Periodically, a machine ground salt into a fine powder and incorporates it into the air. Unintentionally, I had gotten comfy right in front of the machine. I was already so relaxed I didn’t realize it was there. These particles were fiiiiiiiiine; It’s like a vaporizer, almost. Salt never infiltrated my lungs or nostrils in a way that was uncomfortable or even particularly noticeable on the surface.

The wonderful receptionist provided a blanket for me to snuggle up with in the zero-gravity chair. They had headphones, but I used my own. Amrit method yoga nidra is another holistic practice I fell in love with while in the forest. Since, I have listened to recordings through my headphones. This was no exception, except the beauty and energy of the salt cave amplified its benefits. Luckily for me, this was just the start!

My second session, breathwork, which was facilitated by the owner of the salt cave was a two-hour session with one hour of breathing. She provided mats, blankets and I had the foresight to reserve a bolster for my knees before everyone else arrived. I even used a pair of her courtesy socks for the salt cave. I regret to say I was in such a daze that I wore the socks out from my experience. I brought one of my own blankets, one I took to and used in the forest, too.

I began breathwork with very getting comfortable as I thought this path I am on and where I want to go as I repeat three intentions to myself. They are better left in my private sphere, but I will say they were each a component to cultivating a full and rich life. My vision emulated the dreams I was too dark and broken to believe I could aspire to a rewarding life, again. These intentions are like brush strokes of colors shaping structure to form the life I was born to eventually live. Red. Yellow. Blue.

The room felt good. Everyone was very friendly, and my end of the room was cozy. The person beside me introduced themself since this is an intimate experience, to have your guard down and heart wide open. I was comfortable with my fellow travelers and our energy in the room, which is everything when it comes to breathwork. You always want to go into breathwork feeling grounded and centered.

Anger and uneasiness can seep through and become amplified if you are not mindful of your mindset. For breathwork, you want calm and steady vibes to reassure your vulnerability and to be grounded in your tactile environment. The facilitator/owner was soothing and grounded as a guide. It took only a short time for me to feel at enough ease that I was ready to begin this unique session. She turned on the music. It is specially crafted for the occasion. Then, I loosened my jaw, opened my mouth, and began the full breath into my stomach, exiting my diaphragm. Circular. Rhythmic. Breathing.

All I need to do is follow the breath; let it take me to whatever it is I need. Other dimensions are possible. ✨️

I don’t care about the naysayers! I’ve been there!

Astral projections!

Ribbons of light! 🎊

Overall, I was in three hours of deep meditation - an hour of Amrit method yoga nidra - followed by two hours of breathwork. Yoga nidra took me down to sublevels and, in breathwork, my body surged with energy, pulsating, in a way I have never felt. I have to attribute this to the salt. The facilitator was fabulous. She knew what to do while I was “away”. She said I went deep; yeah, girl, my head was in the stars!

Coming out of this mind, body, and soul meditation, is a process to reground. She had sunflower seeds and oranges to help us come back to this realm. The fog was thinning like the veil had in reverse. I started talking after a little while and realized I was rollin'. Hahahaaa, except for the part of I thought I might levitate, breathwork can be a lot like candyflippin'. The most beautiful aspect to secure feelings and other hard to reach places is that this is always within us. We are enough just like to are to have the ability to go to beautiful places that taps us into a source of energy and power. 🙃Iykyk 🧘🏻‍♀️💗✨️

Afterwards, I drank a matcha latte and lots of water. After three hours of Indian style meditation, for dinner I had to treat myself to my favorite, and Indian dish called saag paneer. I ordered take out from a restaurant I have heard to be the best in Indian cuisine for years and, OMG! The claims that they are the best are true! They are magical! I also took home samosas, naan and lentil soup, and had amazing food for days!

The facility was wonderful. I will return.

As a bonus: the next day, I noticed I could breathe with full lungs much easier.

Open-hearted.

    1. Yes, it was a wonderful first time experience! The one I went to is the handiwork of humans, but it was still salt and the energy from it was strong! Your comment makes me want to check out salt therapy spa treatments, next!

    2. It's zen but in a controlled air-conditioned way lol. I would personally love to experience the energy of being in a cave, if your okay I'd love for us to talk about the location of it in person! I definitely want to go

    3. Fo' sho'! I'd love to talk about it in person! Mind you, this, too, is a controlled air-conditioned kind of way as the "cave" is human made and nestled into a shopping center. However, it IS cave-LIKE! Hahahaaa... so sorry if I was totally misleading! It's even a little smaller than I expected for being billed as a cave. That said, it is spacious enough and, most importantly, there is A LOT of salt! In addition to being surrounded by walls and ceiling made of salt, it feels like what walking across sand might feel like to a Barbie. They are big salt pebbles and feel REALLY good on socked feet! See you, soon! :D
